Randall Jeppesen reportingA smelly prank turned sour for four high school seniors.

Traces of skunk oil linger in one wing of Springville high school. Nebo School District Superintendent Chris Sorensen says four seniors admitted to entering the building at night through the roof and spraying the oil as a prank.

"I was their elementary school principal - several of these kids," Sorensen says. "Like 'em a lot. It's just unfortunate the timing of this is so close to their graduation."

The school board gave the students a 90 day suspension. Officials say they can still get their diploma by working at home, but they can't walk at graduation.

"We looked very carefully at this one individually, and felt that [the punishment] was appropriate," Sorensen says.

Some parents are appealing the ruling. Officials say parts of the high school were unusable for several days.
