(KSL News) -- A new plan in the works could help protect consumers when food is recalled.

Usually, key information about the recall is withheld. For example, the US Agriculture Department does not disclose the name of store where recalled food was sold. But that all may change soon.

Under a new proposal, the name of the store would be made public to help consumers determine if they're affected by the recall.
