Ed Yeates ReportingThere are some suites opening up along the Wasatch Front, which provide that little "extra" for special guests. In fact, for these guests, the bonus is sort of like their own version of a Ritz five-star hotel.
For guests like Butch, Flossy, and Fido, these suites at the Bird and Exotic All Pet Complex in Draper are pretty close to the Ritz, especially when compared to Motel 6, so to speak, the kennels!
For the real finicky types, Camelot Pet Resort in Bountiful has what it calls "theme" rooms, complete with toddler beds and colors to make baby "Snooks" feel right at home.
Why all this privacy and comfort for a dog?
"Leaving a pet to be boarded while they're gone is just like leaving a child being taken care by family while they're gone."
The suites in Draper have pushed the envelope even more. Owners have several options here. If they're in town, they can simply stop by and look through the window to check on their dog. Or if they're overseas --like a business trip in Indonesia or a vacation to Hawaii-- they can check on their pets in real time via web cams installed in each suite. If audio is added at some future date, owners will also be able to talk to their animals.
Each room also has its own TV.
Boarding the posh way is not cheap. Compared to kennels at about 19 to 24 dollars per night, suites run $45 per night.
As part of that "suite" price, dogs get personal in-room attention and they're taken outside when they have to go.
