BERLIN, Feb 5, 2006 (UPI via COMTEX) -- An author and mother of four has written a book that depicts Germany's teachers as lazy and ideologically driven incompetents.
The book, on the top of Germany's Amazon.com sales list last week, was written under the pseudonym Lotte Kuhn, but the author's real name, Gerlinde Unverzagt, was revealed last week and ever since she has been deluged by e-mail.
She has received a lot of angry e-mail from teachers, but she said she's also received a lot of e-mail from parents supporting her opinion, the Sunday Telegraph reported.
"My four children have a spent a total of 26 years in Berlin schools and my anger has steadily increased over this time," Unverzagt told the Telegraph. "Teachers' work is never subject to controls -- if they perform badly it has no consequences. They don't enforce discipline, most just do what they want -- and that is grossly unprofessional."
