(KSL News) -- A SWAT team surrounded a Salt Lake garage with a couple of suspected meth cooks holed up inside Friday evening.

The standoff started earlier in the evening when neighbors called police and said it looked like some people were dismantling a meth lab.

Police went to the home on Wall Street on the west side of Capitol Hill, and noticed some activity near a metal shop behind the home.

Lt. Dave Askerlund, Salt Lake City Police Dept..: "Officers arrived and did in fact confront some folks who were bringing glassware typical of a meth lab out and putting it into a pickup truck."

Police arrested one suspect, but two others ran and locked themselves inside the garage.

Teams evacuated a couple of nearby homes and bought in a UTA to provide a warm place for residents.

The other two suspects finally gave themselves up to police.

The suspects and several police officers went through a decontamination process in case they were exposed to any dangerous chemicals.
