(NBC News) -- The Army had no problem recruiting a California woman.
The only problem: She's 87 years old!
Meet the "G-I Granny". Antonina Henry was shocked when she received an Army recruitment letter in the mail! Antonina Henry/Potential Army Recruit: "We can take the strengths you already have and build on them. That means mental strength as well as emotional and physical. That's for me! I'm going!"
Antonina was sold. Right away, she rushed to the recruitment office to enlist.
Antonina Henry/Potential Army Recruit: "I'm here to sign up!
Recruiter: “How old are you?”
Antonina Henry/Potential Army Recruit: “87”
Recruiter: “You look like you're 25.”
Antonina Henry/Potential Army Recruit: “Thank you. Shake my hand again."
Antonina Henry/Potential Army Recruit: "I volunteer twice a week. I do house work and I cook, but you can't take me? “
Antonina got some nice gifts, but no job. Her age is an instant disqualification.
The sergeant says her recruitment was an oversight.
Ironically, Antonina first applied for the service back in 1941, but was rejected because she was too small.
