CEDAR CITY (AP) -- Cedar City residents are being asked to limit the amount of water they use today while Utah Power replaces a transformer that was ruined during Monday's storm.

City officials say if people use their water wisely and avoid big water uses for the next 24 hours, like laundry and running the dishwasher, then they should be able to get through this quickly and easily.

The irreparable transformer is located at Utah Power's Quichapa substation, which provides power to the majority of water wells in Cedar City.

Utah Power spokesman Jeff Hymas says the new transformer was transported from Salt Lake City yesterday but won't likely be operational until tomorrow.

Hymas says Monday's storm left seven-thousand customers in Southern Utah without power.
