SALT LAKE CITY -- A 39-year-old Salt Lake City man has been charged with rape after police say he entered a woman's home, choked her and forced her to have sexual intercourse.
According to charges filed Wednesday in 3rd District Court, the female victim was startled Sunday to find Henry Castro-Miranda standing in her bedroom. It's unclear whether the woman knew Castro-Miranda, though charges state he did not have her permission to be in the home.
When the woman ordered Castro-Miranda to leave, he "became enraged" and told the woman, "You are going to make love," the charges state.
The woman told police that Castro-Miranda threw her on the bed, choked and then raped her, according to the charges. Castro-Miranda told police he had entered the home through an unlocked door and had engaged in "normal sex," the charges state.
Castro-Miranda has been charged with one count each of rape and aggravated burglary, both first-degree felonies; and aggravated assault, a third-degree felony. He is being held on $100,000 bail.
