SALT LAKE CITY -- Tuesday marked the grand opening dedication of the YWCA's new Salt Lake City building.

Since 1954, YWCA has worked to protect women and children from violence and abuse. With the new building at 322 E. 300 South, the organization will triple the number of Utah women and children it can help.

"When we began this project in 2005 we had just 50 beds in our shelter; and now there will be 150 beds," said Anne Burkholder, chief executive officer of the YWCA of Salt Lake City.

The YWCA's new home features inspiring quotes and pictures on the walls. Women and children will start moving in Wednesday.
