TOOELE -- The Dew Tour action sports competition has brought into Utah the top BMX bike riders in the world. One of them helped KSL reward some top Utah readers.
Chopper 5 delivered world record holder Jamie Bestwick to Settlement Canyon Elementary in Tooele. He got high fives from students, then went inside to celebrate their accomplishment.
Settlement Canyon has the most students logging minutes in KSL's Read Today reading incentive program than any other.
Bestwick has a string of accomplishments and records of his own, and has even won the Dew Tour in his category five years in a row -- but even he was impressed by the students.
"When I step on to a bike I try to be the best I can be. And there, we saw kids that had that written all over their faces," Bestwick said. "They want to be the best readers and they want their school to stay the top reader, and that's just so heartwarming. It really made an impact on my day."
Where will Chopper 5 go next? That's up to schools. Whichever school gets the most students logging minutes at ReadToday.com may get their own visit from KSL Chopper 5.
