SALT LAKE CITY -- A 25-year-old Salt Lake County man was killed when he crashed his car into a concrete median on an Interstate 215 off-ramp early Sunday.
According to the Utah Highway Patrol, Bryon Rokus had just finished working a graveyard shift in Bountiful and was headed to his aunt's house in West Jordan. Just after 7 a.m., Rokus was merging his Pontiac G6 from southbound I-215 West onto state Route 201 when troopers say he fell asleep, swerved across three lanes and smashed into the median.
The impact caused the vehicle to roll. Rokus suffered critical injuries. He was taken to Intermountain Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.
Troopers closed the ramp for a short time to clean up the wreckage.
