SALT LAKE CITY -- A new initiative created by Deseret Media Company designed to help women in Utah kicked off Monday.
It's called "Imagine a Happier You," and in its first year the initiative will focus on money and aim to help women get on the road to financial security.
Women have a lot of things in common. They care about our families, they're nurturing by nature and they worry about money.
Deseret Media Companies wants to help women worry less about money and feel more financially secure.
"The statistics show that most individuals are struggling with some aspect of their finances," said Sheri Dew, the chairman of the new women's initiative created by Deseret Media Companies to help women be more secure with money.
"If you feel a greater sense of security and you are more in control rather than at the mercy of exterior sources, I think that it could add to a feeling of comfort and peace," Dew said.
Through this initiative, women can find tips and support from others who struggle with the same things they do when it comes to money.

Shining a light on family financial issues by engaging and educating women is the goal of a new initiative by Deseret Media Companies."We are a little less willing to take risk," said Cece Mitchell, senior vice president of Zions Bank. "We prefer to know our money is safe, we don't want to hit a big home run, we want to make sure that we've accounted for every penny."
Mitchell says that one of the reasons women do not ask for help with their financial situation is because they are embarrassed.
That's why Deseret Media Companies created a new website called "Imagine a Happier You." This website helps women find anonymous message boards, webinars and blogs, helping women understand they're not alone in their problems.
"That could almost become like financial therapy, if you will," Dew said.
"The sooner we let that out and the sooner we ask for help, the sooner we're going to get it fixed and get our questions answered," Mitchell said.
"Imagine a Happier You" is looking for three participants who will willingly get their financial act together in the public eye through this website.
Women watch reality shows like "The Biggest Loser" to watch other women lose weight, because they like to cheer for them. Maybe they'll do the same when it comes to watching women get their financial houses in order.
Deseret Media Companies hopes this women's initiative will help families get out of debt sooner and make them feel financially safe.
