SALT LAKE CITY -- A downtown staple for over 60 years has announced it is closing its doors.

Robert McKay, of McKay Diamonds, tells the Deseret News downtown construction has slowed business, and now seems like a good time to close. The business moved to its current location at 157 S. Main Street in 1952.

McKay, who is 90 years old, and his wife Francess, who is 84, plan now to focus on working for their LDS faith.

McKay diamonds will close sometime next month.
