PROVO, Utah (AP) -- Attorneys have agreed to move Timmy Brent Olsen's trial for the murder of Kiplyn Davis from Utah County to another venue in Salt Lake County in order to avoid a lengthy appeals process.
Olsen is charged with murder in the death of Davis, who disappeared from Spanish Fork High School in 1995.
Olsen's attorneys contend he could not get a fair trial in Utah County due to publicity surrounding the case. They had appealed a 2008 ruling by 4th District Judge Lynn Davis that it should not be moved.
The Utah Attorney General's Office told prosecutors the appeal would take up to two years to resolve. That prospect prompted the family of Kiplyn Davis to request that the case proceed, regardless of venue.
