In Utah, we are fortunate to have five national parks within our borders, and about eight more within a day’s drive in the surrounding states.
Speaking of the national parks, President Lyndon B. Johnson said, "If future generations are to remember us with gratitude rather than contempt, we must leave them something more than the miracles of technology. We must leave them a glimpse of the world as it was in the beginning, not just after we got through with it."
This spring and summer are the perfect time to unplug from technology, load the kids up in the car, and celebrate the gorgeous natural beauty of our country. Here are a few ways to celebrate:
- National Parks Week is April 16-24. Admission to all parks is free. Check the NPS website for all the fun activities and events.
- Clark Planetarium is now showing the IMAX movie, "National Parks Adventure 3D", narrated by Robert Redford.
- Pick up a National Geographic book to learn more and see more.
