TORONTO, Ontario — Former BYU star Jimmer Fredette scored an NBA D-League record 35 points in Saturday's All-Star game, earning Most Valuable Player honors in leading the East to a 128-124 win over the West in Toronto, Ontario.
The No. 2 overall pick in last season's D-League draft by the Westchester Knicks, Fredette failed to catch on with four NBA teams, including twice with the New Orleans Pelicans.
The native of Glens Falls, New York, averaged 22.6 points and 4.8 assists through the first half of the season after failing to make San Antonio's active roster last summer.
Jordan Bachynski, a Westchester teammate of Fredette's and the brother of former Utah forward Dallin Bachynski, was also named to the D-League All-Star game. He finished with 10 points, two rebounds, an assist and a blocked shot for the East.
