Herriman hands Lone Peak first instate loss of the year; Cavemen hold off Westlake

HIGHLAND — Jaden Vaughan led Herriman with 29 points to help the Mustangs hold off Lone Peak, 70-67, to hand the Knights their first loss in Region 4 play and first loss to an instate opponent of the season.

Frank Jackson had a game-high 37 points to lead the Knights, who hadn't loss to an instate opponent since the final game of the 2014-15 regular season at Riverton. Tyson Domand added 14 points for Lone Peak.

Stockton Enger supplied 13 points for the Mustangs, who got 11 points from Leki Fotu.

American Fork 72, Westlake 69 — At American Fork, the Cavemen got 24 points from Marquette signee Brendan Bailey to hold off the Thunder in a Region 4 contest.

Spencer Johnson added 23 points for American Fork, which held off a 26-21 rally through the fourth quarter by Westlake.

Asa McCord led the Thunder with 24 points, and teammate Maizen Fausett scored 17 for Westlake, which trimmed the lead to one with 10 seconds remaining and missed a 3-pointer to tie on the final play of the game.

Bingham 62, Brighton 48 — At Bingham, BYU commit Yoeli Childs is known for his dunks, but the center showed off his 3-point shot en route to 22 points and the Miners' win in Region 3 play.
