SALT LAKE CITY — The groundhog failed to see its shadow Tuesday, which should signify an earlier spring; however, the past week has been anything but "spring like" in Utah.
The weekend saw some heavy snowfall across Utah, causing some historic school closures in southern Utah Monday. The Utah Snow Survey supervisor for the USDA's Natural Resources Conservation Service said the weekend storms pumped up southern Utah snowpack by as much as 30 percent and also increased snowpack in the central and northern portion of the state by 10 percent.
Provo Canyon received 8 inches of new snow and Morgan was hit with an additional 5 inches of fresh powder.
The weather made for some beautiful photos that were submitted from residents across the state. It also caused several accidents and slide-offs, some of which were caught on camera.
