SALT LAKE CITY — In the past week, Utah has seen a variety of big events including thousands gathering to honor fallen Officer Barney at his funeral and celebrities flocking to Park City for the annual Sundance Film Festival.

Doug Barney, an 18-year veteran police officer and a cancer survivor, was working an overtime shift on Sunday, Jan. 17, when he was shot and killed while looking for a man who left the scene of a traffic accident at 2160 E. 4500 South. Barney's funeral was held Monday morning and thousands of officers gathered at the Maverik Center to honor the fallen Unified police officer.

Several Utahns submitted photos of the funeral procession and held flags to honor him along the route.

The annual Sundance Film Festival is also underway in Park City, attracting big name celebrities like James Franco and Elijah Wood (of "Lord of the Rings" fame). Hundreds of locals attend each year and several snapped photos of the action.

Other Utahns took photos of vehicle accidents that occurred across the state.
