LOGAN — Utah State linebackers Nick Vigil and Kyler Fackrell each received first-team all-Mountain West honors when the league coaches announced end-of-season awards Tuesday, becoming the second Aggie linebacker tandem to receive such honors in two seasons.

Fackrell earned his third career all-conference award since being named to the all-Western Athletic Conference first team as a redshirt freshman in 2012. The senior who missed the 2014 season with an injury ranked first in the nation with five fumbles recovered in 2015, and totaled 76 tackles and 13.5 tackles for loss.

Vigil led the Mountain West with 140 total tackles, including 12.5 tackles for loss, as a junior in 2015. The Fremont High graduate and younger brother of Utah State all-time leading tackler Zach Vigil also had four sacks, four quarterback hurries and two forced fumbles.

The two were the only Aggies named to the league's first-team, though wide receiver Hunter Sharp garnered all-league second-team honors.

Nine Aggies earned all-Mountain West honorable mention honors, including sophomore quarterback Kent Myers.

San Diego State raked in the all-league individual honors, taking home four of the five all-conference awards. Running back Donnel Pumphrey was named offensive player of the year, defensive back Demontae Kazee took home defensive player of the year, and sophomore return specialist Rashaad Penny was named Mountain West special teams player of the year.

Rocky Long became the second Aztecs head coach to be named coach of the year in the Mountain West after former coach Brady Hoke was named to the spot in 2010. Long led the Aztecs to a 9-3 overall record and an unblemished 8-0 mark in conference play.

San Diego State will host Air Force in the Mountain West championship game Saturday at 5:30 p.m. MST. The game will be broadcast on ESPN2.
