Emery helps pace BYU to 97-56 win against Adams State

PROVO, Utah (AP) — Nick Emery scored 20 points, shooting 9 for 14 from the field, and BYU pulled away in the second half to beat Division II Adams State 97-56 Friday night.

BYU (2-1) started the second half with a 24-4 run. Nate Austin's dunk put the Cougars up 68-34 with 10:48 left.

Corbin Kaufusi was 7-for-9 shooting with 14 points, seven rebounds and four blocks. Kyle Collinsworth had 12 points and six rebounds and Kyle Davis had 10 points, 10 rebounds.

Bryan Umoru's jumper gave the Grizzlies a 23-22 lead with 6:45 left in the first half. But the Cougars took the lead for good with a 21-6 run to end the half. Emery scored half his points during that span, including a couple of 3s.

BYU shot 59.4 percent to Adams State's 27.7.

Umoru had 12 points for the Grizzlies.
