KEARNS — The creators behind the Midway Ice Castles plan to construct a new attraction to celebrate Christmas — a mile-long electric light show.

Created by local company, Animated Color, the "Christmas in Color" outdoor display will open Nov. 27 in Kearns, allowing visitors to enjoy a holiday-themed drive through of lights. The mile-long display will include 35-foot Christmas trees and 1 million LED lights set to music. Visitors can listen to the music on their car radio by tuning into a certain frequency while driving for 20 minutes through the display.

Pleasant Grove resident and "Christmas in Color" creator Richard Holdman created a spectacular lighting display at his home that went viral on YouTube in 2009. He is also the mastermind behind the lighting at the Midway Ice Castles.

"Let's just say this is going to be big," Holdman said of his newest attraction. "'Christmas in Color' is one of my best projects yet. I can't wait to see how Utahns react to it."

The Christmas in Color display will be open to the public from Nov. 27 to Jan. 2, from 5:30-10 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 5:30-11 p.m. on Friday and Saturday. Vehicles can enter the display on Ed Mayne Street at Oquirrh Park in Kearns. Vehicles can't be higher than 10 feet and buses, limos and trailers are not allowed in the drive through.

Tickets are $20 per vehicle Monday through Thursday and $25 per vehicle Friday and Saturday and must be purchased online.

"This is a light show unlike anything you've ever seen," said Ryan Davis, the co-owner of the Midway Ice Castles and co-owner of Animated Color. "It's completely captivating and will wow young kids and adults alike."
