YARDS EVERYWHERE — November Saturdays are often a manic day filled with last-ditch efforts to ready yards for the incoming winter. Hedges are trimmed. Patio furniture is scrubbed and put away. Leaves are raked, bagged and tossed.

The act of bagging leaves can be a tedious and thankless task, not to mention frustrating. The opening of the disposable bag never seems wide enough to contain the entirety of the rake prongs. If you go cheap, there's a chance your black bag of various origin will tear during the process.

Another truth of leaf raking is that every dad has his tried-and-true method of taking care of the leaves in the yard. For mine, it involves a big blue tarp and a rickety old trailer. It skips the middleman (i.e. rolls of black bags) altogether and involves one trip to the dump instead of several journeys to the curb.

Even better than practical dad tips are the accompanying dad jokes. It's often the only means by which a dad can get his ornery kids through a weekend of yard work. And when dad jokes and work tips come together, it's a beautiful thing.

In this video posted by Dan Bach on YouTube, we immediately know that this father is serious about leaf raking and his tip for fitting extra leaves in his Hefty bag is no joke. Although this method looks more akin to "Stop, drop and roll" than any leaf-bagging trick I've ever seen, I'm not one to judge.

Whatever works.
