FORT CARSON, Colo. — Eight months is a long time to go without seeing your dad, especially when you're just a toddler.

So no one could really blame little Karis Oglesby for breaking rank and dashing into her father's arms as he stood in a homecoming ceremony with fellow soldiers at Fort Carson this week, KKTV 11 News reports.

David Oglesby, the little girl's father, had been stationed in Southwest Asia for nearly a year, and the proud dad wasn't about to turn his daughter away.

"She was excited," he told KKTV. "She spotted me from a couple rows back and she couldn't contain herself. I wasn't gonna tell her no."

No one seemed to mind the interruption in the ceremony. The crowd broke into applause as the father and daughter held each other for the first time in a very long time.

"Being gone for eight months — it's tough," Oglesby said. "But once you see the look on their faces when you get back makes it worth it."

A video of the sweet reunion has garnered thousands of views on YouTube.
