WEST VALLEY CITY — A Murray woman stabbed her mother repeatedly, barely missing a major neck artery and puncturing a lung, according to charging documents filed Wednesday.

Dianna Sue Robles, 30, was charged in 3rd District Court with attempted murder, a first-degree felony; assault against a peace officer, a second-degree felony; and aggravated assault, a third-degree felony.

Robles stabbed her 48-year-old mother several times, hit a man in the head with a cooking pot lid, and broke into a nearby car and damaged the ceiling console, according to court documents.

Police responding to the scene said Robles stabbed her mother seven times.

Robles reportedly went to her mother's West Valley mobile home near 3300 South and Westcrest Road about 5:30 a.m Sunday. Robles' mother told police she answered the door to find her daughter acting strange. The woman went to her room but came out when she heard something drop, court documents state.

Robles allegedly said, "You're not my mom. You're the devil," when she saw her mother outside the room. Robles then pushed her mom against a cabinet and got a knife from the kitchen, charges state.

Robles' mother ran from the home and Robles followed her — hitting, stabbing and dragging her mother by her hair and shouting, "I'm going to kill you," according to court documents.

A neighbor drew Robles' attention and the mother was able to run back to her home and lock the doors. She suffered a punctured lung and a stab wound that barely missed her carotid artery, along with other stab wounds to her neck and shoulder and other abrasions, charges state.

Police said Robles tried to break into a neighboring mobile home and hit a neighbor in the head with a pot lid when he confronted her. Court documents say that lid caused a laceration to the man's head.

Police also say she tried to break into another mobile home but was unsuccessful.

Robles was taken to the hospital and later booked into jail, police said.

Robles was also charged Wednesday with vehicle burglary, a class A misdemeanor, and criminal mischief, a class B misdemeanor.

In 2007, Robles pleaded guilty to driving on a suspended license and failure to register a towed vehicle, both misdemeanors, according to a search of Utah court records. She is charged in ongoing misdemeanor cases with operating a vehicle without insurance, retail theft and three separate counts of driving without a license.
