FREMONT, Wayne County — A 17-year-old boy was arrested and charged with manslaughter after a fight involving three family members resulted in one man dying, according to the Wayne County Sheriff's Office.

Sometime Saturday night, Jerimiah Randall James, 32, got into a verbal altercation that turned physical with his father and a teen identified as James' nephew, according to Wayne County spokeswoman Kassidee Brown.

Brown said the medical examiner's preliminary report says James died by strangulation.

The three were staying at the residence, she said. The family had recently moved to Fremont from Salt Lake County. Brown did not know how long the three involved in the fight had been staying there.

The sheriff's office wasn't notified of the death until just before 10:30 a.m. Sunday, Brown said. She did not know who called 911 or who discovered James' body. The sheriff's office also declined to say where in the house the body was discovered.

The teen was booked into the Central Utah Youth Center in Richfield and has been charged with manslaughter, possession and consumption of alcohol by a minor, and marijuana possession.
