SALT LAKE CITY — The three local FBS schools all went on the road last week, but only one came back with a win.

No. 19 BYU lost a heartbreaker to No. 10 UCLA, a game in which the Cougars never trailed until a go-ahead touchdown run by Bruin running back Nate Starks with just under three and a half minutes left in the fourth quarter.

Utah State was within 7 points at halftime against Washington, but couldn't hold on as Huskies quarterback Jake Browning threw two third-quarter touchdowns in the Aggies 31-17 defeat.

Utah played without starting quarterback Travis Wilson, and despite fumbling the opening kickoff, the Utes cruised to a 45-24 win over Fresno State. Running back Devontae Booker finished with 31 carries for 156 yards and two touchdowns.

With the games in the books, how did we do? Here are the results of week three of KSL's College Football Pick'em.

KSL.com user E. Lengvarsky (Utah fan base) ended the weekend with 213 points out of a possible 250. Lengvarsky's best picks of the week were Washington 31, Utah State 21 (actual: 31-17) and Utah 47, Fresno State 21 (actual: 45-24). By finishing with the most points in week 3, Lengvarsky will receive a $30 Wells Fargo VISA gift card.

For the third straight week, the consensus picks were 4-1 (prediction, actual): UCLA vs. BYU (29-24, 24-23); LSU vs. Auburn (25-20, 45-21); Notre Dame vs. Georgia Tech (23-24, 30-22); Washington vs. Utah State (22-19, 31-17); and Fresno State vs. Utah (14-33, 45-24).

Ute fans were the most accurate in week three, scoring an average of 25.3 points per game. Utah State was second with 22.8 and BYU a close third with 22.7. Percentage-wise, Ute fans picked 75% of the games correctly, with Utah State picking 68 percent and BYU 67 percent.

And here's a new metric — fan optimism — which will indicate how many of each respective fan base thought their team would win that week. 564 out of 1005 BYU fans picked BYU to beat UCLA (56%), 548 out of 563 Ute fans predicted Utah to beat Fresno State (97%), and 138 out of 200 Aggie fans predicted Utah State to beat Washington (69%).

For those following the KSL Sports group, Sean Walker finished with 149 points, with Jeremiah Jensen a close second with 146 points.

This week's slate of games includes Michigan vs. No. 22 BYU, East Carolina vs. Virginia Tech, Texas Tech vs. No. 3 TCU, No. 16 Arizona vs. No. 9 UCLA and No. 13 Oregon vs. No. 18 Utah.

If you haven't signed up yet, don't worry — each weekly prize will be awarded to the highest point total for that week, so you have the same odds to win as those who participated in weeks 1-3. We are also excited to announce a new sponsorship with RC Willey, so look for some exciting updates to the prize list in the near future.

We've also added some new features, including weekly and overall user records as well as some checks where some users were reporting scores not saving correctly, though we would advise you to double check your score predictions by refreshing the page.
