1 critical after West Jordan party shooting

WEST JORDAN — One man is in critical condition following a shooting at a party in West Jordan Saturday morning, police said.

About 5:40 a.m. Saturday, police received a call of shots fired at 3138 W. Shayla Dr. in West Jordan, according to Lt. Drew Sanders of West Jordan Police Department. Upon arrival, officers noted a party with alcohol in progress at which there had reportedly been a fight, Sanders said. According to witnesses, those involved had been told to take the fight outside, after which multiple shots were reported fired.

A 19-year-old male from Salt Lake City was shot and transported to the hospital in critical condition, Sanders said. Police have not released details as to where the victim was shot or how many shots were fired. Police are currently working to determine a suspect in the shooting.

Officers are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the shooting. According to Sanders, there is no prior history at the location.
