OGDEN — After two stages, UnitedHealthcare cyclist Kiel Reijnen maintains his lead on the overall race standings with a total elapsed time of 8 hours, 49 minutes, 19 seconds, after tying for first place with an official time of 3:37:27 on Tuesday.
Team Smartstop's Jure Kocjan took the top spot on the podium in a photo finish during stage 2 from Tremonton to Ogden with his time of 3:37:27. Hincapie Racing's Robin Carpenter was second and BMC Racing's Brent Bookwalter third in the second stage from Tremonton to Ogden.
Reijnen's overall score gives him a four-second lead over Kocjan and Team Cannondale-Garmin's Alex Howe. Carpenter and MTN-Qhubeka's Jay Thomson are currently fourth, 8 seconds back, and Bookwalter and Axeon's Daniel Eaton are 10 seconds back.
UnitedHealthcare's Coryn Rivera took stage 2 of the women's race in Ogden at 1:14:39, followed by teammate Hannah Barnes and ISCorp Cycling's Samantha Schneider.
Barnes won the two-day event, helping UnitedHealthcare to the overall team victory of the event that expanded from one day to two since last year.
"We knew that I would have to win both intermediate sprints and place as high as we could in the finish," Barnes told the press after the second stage. "After the two intermediates, I knew that I was going to be tired. Today, with the course being wide and long, it was difficult but we managed to tow it off."
Cannondale-Garmin, BMC Racing and Axeon Cycling are tied for the men's team lead with a total time of 26:19:35. MTN-Qhubeka is two seconds back and Team Smartstop four seconds back.
