STUART, Florida — Cape Coral native Ben Chancey couldn't believe his luck after he caught a 7-foot, 412-pound grouper while taking his first paddle board ride.
"The paddle board was tethered to a boat and it (the grouper) started dragging," Chancey told NBC News. "It pulled me off the board and started pulling the boat."
Chancey and company wrestled with the giant grouper for 20 minutes before releasing it.
Chancey is still recovering from his grouper encounter.
"Don't try this at home," Chancey told NBC News. "It's very difficult, to say the least."
