PROVO — Every few days, we'll bring you a sampling of what local and national writers across the Internet are saying about BYU sports, its players and coaches.

We're calling it 'Cougar Clicks,' but mostly because we like alliteration around here.

Here's the latest roundup of BYU-related news from the World Wide Web, including a look at what quarterback Taysom Hill has been doing this summer.

Taysom Hill, hedge fund manager

A lot of people know Hill as BYU's senior quarterback for the 2015 season. But USA Today's Dan Wolken spent some time with the other side of Hill — a senior in the finance program at BYU's Marriott School of Management who interned with one of the top venture capital firms in the Salt Lake area this summer.

It turns out, Hill could have an even bigger decision to make than the read-option or which agent to pick ahead of the 2016 NFL draft.

Too much baggage for BYU-to-Big 12

BYU is "a fine school, athletically and academically" to be considered for potential Big 12 expansion. But Dallas Morning News writer Chuck Carlton said the Cougars also bring plenty of baggage.

He writes there are other candidates the primarily Texas and Oklahoma-based conference should look toward in expanding its footprint.

"Beyond that, which of UCF, USF, Cincinnati, UConn, Memphis, Houston, East Carolina is a can't-miss school the Big 12 needs to add now?" he wrote. "If one or two of those separate themselves, then go for it."

Cyclones grab a Cougar cub

Iowa State landed a commitment from the class of 2016 in the form of a former BYU standout from Florida.

Jake Hansen, a linebacker from Tarpon Springs, Florida, committed to the Cyclones over the weekend. Hansen is the son of former BYU linebacker Shad Hansen, who played for the Cougars from 1989-92 and earned all-Western Athletic Conference honors as a senior.

BYU wasn't among the schools that offered Jake Hansen. He picked Iowa State over scholarships from all three FBS service academies, Marshall, Ohio, Central Florida and Temple.

Just another college football list

Are you ready for fall training camp? If you play college football in the state, you'd better be. BYU opens up fall camp on Saturday, around the same time as most the other schools in the state (Utah State is on Friday, Utah on Saturday).

Deseret News sportswriter Jeff Call prepares you with five things to watch as BYU begins likely the final fall camp of the Hill-and-Jamaal Williams era.
