SALT LAKE CITY — The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is currently constructing 12 temples around the world, and a recently updated infographic shows the progress of the magnificent buildings.

Currently, there are more than 140 LDS temples, two of which were dedicated in the last few months. The Cordoba, Argentina temple was dedicated May 17 and the Payson, Utah temple was dedicated June 7.

"We continue to build temples," LDS Church President Thomas S. Monson said in a 2009 General Conference address. "We desire that as many members as possible have an opportunity to attend the temple without having to travel inordinate distances."

According to LDS.org, temples are where heaven meets earth and where people can feel close to God and Jesus Christ.
