SALT LAKE CITY — In a recent Tip-Off, David Locke was asked if any of the Utah Jazz are, or will be, on the all-time Jazz all-star team. Shaquille O'Neal also jabbed at Scottie Pippen by saying that the all-time Lakers team would crush the all-time Bulls team.

As for a Jazz all-time team, there are two obvious choices, and the rest are up for debate. After much thought, conversing and some research, here is your Jazz all-time starting lineup (imagine you're in EnergySolutions Arena listening to Dan Robert's voice):

Point Guard

Starting at point guard at 6-foot-1 from Gonzaga, John Stockton!

There is no debate about, arguably, the best point guard of all time. Stockton's ability to create for his teammates was unprecedented. The all-time records for assists and steals will not be broken because of Stockton's intense dedication and in-game focus. Stockton never took plays off and always ran Jerry Sloan's system perfectly. Don't expect another Jazz point guard to supplant Stockton.

Honorable Mentions: Deron Williams, Ricky Green

Shooting Guard

Starting at shooting guard at 6-foot-5 from LSU, "Pistol" Pete Maravich!

Maravich was one of the greatest scorers in basketball history. After breaking the record for all-time points in the NCAA (a record that still stands), the Atlanta Hawks drafted Maravich third overall in the 1970 draft. After four stellar seasons with the Hawks, Maravich was traded to a struggling New Orleans Jazz team. Despite poor play from the team, Maravich excelled. In 1977, Maravich was the league's scoring champion with an average of 31.1 ppg. A three-time All-Star with the Jazz, Maravich played exceptionally while healthy. Maravich suffered from knee injuries in his final three seasons with the team.

Honorable Mentions: Darrell Griffith, Jeff Hornacek

Small Forward

Starting at small forward at 6-foot-5 from Notre Dame, Adrian Dantley!

The sixth overall pick by the Buffalo Braves won Rookie of the Year and then was traded the following season. Dantley was traded two more times before he ended up in Utah and found stability. Dantley played seven seasons with the Jazz and played spectacularly. He is the Jazz all-time leader in points per game with 29.6 (Malone was 25.4 ppg). With the Jazz, Dantley was a six-time all-star and two-time scoring champion. Dantley holds the record, along with Wilt Chamberlain, for most free throws made in a game, with 28.

Honorable Mentions: Andrei Kirilenko, Gordon Hayward

Power Forward

Starting at power forward at 6-foot-9 from Louisiana Tech, Karl Malone!

Second on the all-time scoring list, Malone was the most dominant power forward in the league. Malone's ability to shoot lights out from 15 feet, finish at the rim, draw fouls and make free-throws made "The Mailman" an unstoppable force in the NBA. The two-time MVP paired with Stockton formed one of the greatest one-two punches in the history of the NBA.

Honorable Mentions: Carlos Boozer, Truck Robinson, Paul Millsap

Center

Starting at center at 7-foot-4 from UCLA, Mark Eaton!

Eaton was the most dominant defensive center ever. Through his career, Eaton averaged 3.5 blocks. During the 1984-85 season, he averaged 5.6 blocks, the most ever in a single season. Somehow, the defensive juggernaut slipped in the 1982 draft to the fourth round, 72nd overall, to the Jazz. Eaton was not known for his offensive game. His best offensive season 1984-85, he averaged 9.7 ppg along with 8.8 rebounds. Eaton played his entire 11-year career with the Jazz while winning Defensive Player of the Year twice.

Honorable Mentions: Mehmet Okur, Al Jefferson, Rudy Gobert
