SALT LAKE CITY —The Salt Lake Bees dropped their third straight to the El Paso Chihuahuas, 6-3, on Sunday afternoon at Smith's Ballpark.

Starters Alex Sanabia and Jason Lane took a pitcher's duel into the sixth, allowing one run each, before the Chihuahuas scored a run in both the sixth and the seventh to take a 3-1 advantage. The lead didn't last long as the Bees retaliated in the bottom of the seventh, tying the game 3-3 on a Gary Brown. The tie held through nine innings to force extras, but a three-run homerun by Tim Federowicz in the top of the 10th secured the victory for El Paso.

Sanabia recorded one of his best outings of the season, allowing three runs off six hits over a season-best six and one-third innings of work and took away a no decision. Jeremy McBryde (4-6) was tagged with the loss with three earned runs under his line. Cory Rasmus helped the Bees with two and one-third hitless innings in relief, while Josh Rutledge, Grant Green and Jett Bandy each contributed two hits.

"The games come down to one or two plays in close ballgames," Salt Lake manager Dave Anderson said. "You have to do a lot of things to win and a few things to lose. We did a few things that gave them opportunities to score runs."

Salt Lake concludes its homestand Monday at 7:05 p.m. with its final game of the season against El Paso. Former Chicago Cubs and Boston Red Sox star Bill Buckner will also be visiting Smith's Ballpark tomorrow and will be signing autographs on the concourse.
