SANDY — One advantage of Real Salt Lake's heavy turnover, high absence-rate year is the opportunity it gave the team to play so many young players in 2015.

A league legend took notice Monday.

RSL utility player Jordan Allen and versatile defender Justen Glad were two of 22 players selected to the game-day roster for the MLS Homegrown Game, retired MLS and U.S. Soccer star and MLS Homegrown coach Landon Donovan announced Monday.

The roster contains a sampling of the top homegrown players as nominated by the league's 20 teams, that will play Club America's U-20 squad in an all-star game-style event at 7 p.m. MT July 28 at Dick's Sporting Goods Park.

Allen will reunite with San Jose's Tommy Thompson and Sporting Kansas City's Erik Palmer-Brown for the first time since the trio were a part of head coach Tab Ramos' roster for the U-20 World Cup in New Zealand.

The former Virginia outside back and Rochester, New York, native has a goal and two assists in 17 appearances for RSL, including six starts.

The 18-year-old Glad has four starts in 2015 in multiple positions. The versatile defender has seen the majority of his minutes at center back with RSL, but he's also played spot duty at right back and defensive midfield for the Salt Lake side. The Tucson, Arizona native also has an extensive youth international career, most recently receiving a call-up to the U.S. U-18 national team camp in April in Carson, California.

The MLS Homegrown game will be streamed live on the league's website at mlssoccer.com.
