LOGAN CANYON — Those visiting Bear Lake or driving through Logan Canyon should take advantage of the chance to cool off by strolling along the refreshing Limber Pine Nature Trail.
The easy path, which is mostly flat and loops back to the parking lot, overlooks Bear Lake and offers stunning views of the canyon. It even features one of the oldest limber pine trees in the state, which is estimated to be about 2,560 years old, according to a sign at the start of the trail.
The parking lot and trailhead for Limber Pine Nature Trail is located right off the shoulder of Highway 89 near the Bear Lake summit sign, only about a 10-minute drive from Garden City. The trail loop is clearly marked, with various signs posted along the path to educate visitors about plant life, rock formations and other features.

After a short walk from the parking lot the path splits, giving visitors the option of starting from the left or right. Regardless of which direction visitors choose they will end up back in the same spot, but those following the signs should start by turning right.
Limber Pine Nature Trail is perfect for people of all ages and abilities. The only potential obstacles are a couple of trees that have fallen across the trail, but they can easily be hurdled or passed. In general the path is smooth and well-defined, with a wide variety of gorgeous trees to provide shade.
