SALT LAKE CITY — Power outages can happen anytime, anywhere. Are you prepared with the basics if your power goes out? Cailee Hatt from Riverton Hardware knows how important being prepared is.
“If you’re not prepared, I mean, it’s one of those things where you can be sitting in darkness,” Hatt said.
Hatt recommends everyone at least have the basics like flashlights, batteries and candles. If a person wants to really get serious, then she says there’s nothing like a good generator.
“If you don’t have a generator you have no way to run your fridge,” said Hatt.
It’s also important to have board games and other activities that don’t require electricity to keep children entertained.
During the hot summer, losing your AC in a power outage can a big problem.
“Try and have those electronic fans, the battery-powered fans are good to have around,” said Hatt. “Anything can happen at any time; you just have to prepare for it.”
