SALT LAKE CITY — Minutes before robbing a Wells Fargo in Salt Lake City, police say the same man attempted to rob another bank nearby.

Salt Lake City police released surveillance video Monday of the man at a Bank of Utah, located at 2309 S. Redwood Rd. Investigators said the video was taken minutes before he allegedly robbed a Wells Fargo at about 3 p.m. Friday.

“Due to the suspect’s actions while at this bank, detectives believe this was a failed attempt at robbing the Bank of Utah,” a statement from police reads.

While robbing the Wells Fargo located at 1710 S. Redwood Road, the man brandished a weapon and demanded money, according to police. They said he was seen heading south on Redwood Road after the teller complied with his demands.

Investigators described the man as being of Hispanic or Asian descent and about 5 feet 8 inches tall. They believe he is in his late 20s. He has dark-colored hair and was last seen wearing a tan or gray button-up shirt with jeans and brown sunglasses, according to police.

Anyone with information about the man’s identity or location can contact the Salt Lake City Police Department by calling 801-799-3000 or texting 274637 with the keyword TIPSLCPD followed by any relevant information.
