SALT LAKE CITY — Every Bee starter brought their bat Monday night and all left with at least one hit. Those 16 hits and three Albuquerque errors led to a 7-2 Bees victory over the Isotopes.

Gary Brown led things off in the first inning with a bunt and advanced to second base on a throwing error. Alfred Marte drove Brown in with a long RBI double to give the Bees the lead.

In the second inning, Alex Yarbrough led things off with a single. Roger Kieschnick followed with a single that was bobbled, advancing Yarbrough to third and Kieschnick to second. Yarbrough scored on a ground-out and Kieschnick scored on a Brown RBI single, giving the Bees a 3-0 lead after two innings.

After an Isotope run in the top of the third, the Bees responded. Kyle Kubitza led things off with a double and then was driven in on a Marte RBI single. The Bees led 4-1 after three.

The Isotopes scored again in the top of the sixth and the Bees, once again, responded in the bottom of the inning. Jett Bandy started out with a double and was driven in by a Kieschnick RBI single, giving the Bees a 5-2 lead after six.

The Bees added a couple of insurance runs in the eighth when both Grant Green and Yarbrough scored, giving the Bees the final score of 7-2.

Jo-Jo Reyes pitched extremely well in his first start and win with the Bees. Reyes went 5⅔ innings, allowing five hits, two runs (one earned) and struck out six.

The Bees have to feel good about winning the series 3-1 as they head to Sacramento for a four-game series with the River Cats.

Game notes:

Kubitza, right off his short stint with the Los Angeles Angels, went 3-4 with a double and two singles.

Marte played well, going 2-4 with a double, single, RBI and a stolen base.

Kaleb Cowart went 2-4 with two singles and two RBIs.

Isotope starting pitcher John Lannan pitched a complete game, giving up five earned runs and 16 hits. That’s the most hits the Bees have ever had against one pitcher.
