List of fireworks restrictions in place for 4th of July, Pioneer Day

If you have more restrictions to report, please email us at kslweb@ksl.com.SALT LAKE CITY — Fire departments and safety advocates across Utah are reminding the public of the restrictions in place for fireworks in preparation for the Fourth of July and Pioneer Day.

Utah state code allows for the use of class C fireworks three days before, on the day of and three days after the Fourth of July and July 24 holidays. Firework sales are open from June 23 to July 27.

Fireworks are also illegal to be lit on state, federal or unincorporated land. Offenders can face fines of up to $5,000.

Many cities have their own additional restrictions, which are included on the list below. If a city is not listed, it either has the same restrictions as the state or county. For more information, inquire with your local fire department.

Bountiful

Fireworks are prohibited east of Davis Street and east of 400 East between 400 North and the city limits.

Brigham City

Fireworks are prohibited from 1500 North to the south Brigham City boundary, as well as the following locations:

  • Area east of Highland Boulevard, 675 North, Aspen Drive, Carolyn Place, Orchard Place, Oak Place, Bott Avenue, Sycamore Circle, Sheri Circle, 1300 East, Bywater Way and Kaylynne Circle

  • Area east of a line running due south from Highland Boulevard to U.S. 89

  • Area east of U.S. 89 from the canyon and residential property on Michelle Drive

  • Brigham City Airport and surrounding areas

  • Areas in the Bear River Bird Refuge

Brigham City

Bryce Canyon City

All private fireworks are banned within city limits, including sparklers. Open fires are also prohibited.

Cedar Fort

Fireworks are banned West of 100 West.

Centerville

Fireworks are prohibited east of 400 East and Main Street between Chase Lane and the city limits.

Centerville City

Cottonwood Heights

The use of fireworks is banned in all city parks and public property. The city also restricts the use of fireworks in or near "wildland interface" areas.

Some examples of wildland interface areas are anything east of Wasatch Boulevard, the area around Spencer's Pond (Old Mill Pond), and the hillside around Crestwood Park. A map of many restricted areas in the city is located below. The discharge of most fireworks within 300 feet of any wildland interface area is subject to a class B misdemeanor citation. Class C fireworks are banned within 50 feet of restricted areas.

Draper

Fireworks are prohibited east of 1300 East, south of 13800 South and west of Interstate 15, among other areas.

Draper City

Eagle Mountain

Fireworks are prohibited near any homes adjacent to bike park, Lake Mountain Road, Cedar Pass Ranch, North Ranch, Ruby Valley, Lone Tree, Kiowa Valley, Eagle Top, Point Lookout, Hidden Canyon, Fremont Springs, Meadow Ranch, Valley View and White Hills.

The public is encouraged to use designated firework locations at the asphalt parking area above the Silver Lake Amphitheater and the parking areas at Pony Express Park.

Enoch

Fireworks are prohibited everywhere within the city limits except at the paved parking lot at the Enoch City Office located at 900 East Midvalley Road and at the west parking lot of Enoch Elementary School located on Tomahawk Drive.

Farmington

Fireworks are banned on the east side of 200 East between Lund Lane and State Street, as well as the east side of Main Street ending at the Fruit Heights and Kaysville junction.

Fruit Heights

Fireworks are prohibited east of Mountain Road, at Nicholls Park and near any homes adjacent to Nicholls Park.

The public is encouraged to use the designated firework location at Harvey Park, which is located next to the City Office Building.

Fruit Heights City

Henefer

All fireworks are banned within city limits.

Highland

All fireworks are prohibited in the Bull River, Hidden Oaks, Hunter Ridge, Highland Hills, Beacon Hills, View Point, Dry Creek Highland, Westfield Cove, Chamberry Fields, Mercer Hollow and Country French subdivisions. Fireworks are also banned in Highland Glen Park, Sunset Mnt. Properties, Mouth of American Fork Canyon and Skye Estates.

Holladay

Aerial fireworks are banned within city limits and all fireworks are banned within forested areas, including Spring Creek, Neff's Creek, Cottonwood Area, Big Cottonwood Creek and Creekside Park, Olympus Hills Park and all areas east of I-215 including the freeway right-of-way.

Layton

All fireworks are banned east of U.S. 89.

Aerial fireworks are also prohibited in several areas, including:

  • Areas between 2050 East and U.S. 89.

  • Areas east of Fairfield Road and Church Street between Cherry Lane and 3000 North.

  • Areas east of 2400 East and north of 3450 North to the city limits.

Layton City

Lehi

Fireworks are prohibited north of State Route 92 and along the Dry Creek corridor from 1200 East to Center Street.

Moab

Fireworks are prohibited within 150 feet of Mill Creek and Pack Creek.

North Salt Lake

Fireworks are prohibited east of U.S. 89 between Orchard Drive and the south city limits. They are also prohibited south of Orchard Drive to the city limits.

Ogden

Fireworks are prohibited in all areas of the city east of Harrison Boulevard. For more restrictions, see Weber County restrictions below.

Weber County

Orem

Fireworks are prohibited east of Carterville Road and Palisades Drive between the south city limits and 800 North. They are also prohibited east of 800 East to the city limits.

Park City

All class C fireworks are banned, along with firecrackers, bottle rockets, roman candles, aerial fireworks and whistlers.

Pleasant Grove

Fireworks are prohibited only on the easternmost areas of the city.

Provo

Fireworks are illegal to be lit in the following circumstances:

  • Within 100 feet of any place where fireworks are being sold

  • Within 300 feet of any church, hospital, rest home, retirement center or school

  • In such a manner that the fireworks project over or onto the property of another person

  • Without the consent of the person owning the property

  • In a public park, except Sertoma Park, Exchange Park, Fort Utah Park, Footprinters Park, Provost Park or Kiwanis Park

  • From or into any motor vehicle or at or near any person

Fireworks are also prohibited in the foothills on the east bench: east of Timpview Drive, east of 900 East between Birch Lane and Timpview Drive, east of Birch Lane, east of Seven Peaks Boulevard, east of State Street between 900 South and the south city limits, and anywhere on the Brigham Young University campus.

Riverdale

Fireworks are prohibited along the Weber River and near every home adjacent to the river. They are also prohibited south and west of Ritter Drive, 1200 West, 1150 West and South Weber Drive.

Roy

Fireworks are prohibited in the following areas:

  • Along the Denver and Rio Grande trails

  • Near the Bamberger railroad tracks

  • Along the Layton Canal

  • Property maintained by Weber Basin Water, including the reservoir

  • Property at 4800 South Midland Drive to approximately 5000 South Midland Drive East to 3500 West from 4800 South to 5000 South

  • The property at 2175 West 4000 South to George Wahlen North Park and east to approximately 1950 West

  • The property owned by the Ogden City Airport

Salem

Fireworks are prohibited in the following areas:

  • South of the Highline Canal

  • East of Woodland Hills Drive

  • North of 400 North and west of Main Street, except in developed subdivisions

  • Within 20 feet of any building

  • Within 200 feet of any open field, unimproved lot with dry vegetation or any vacant building with dry vegetation on the lot

  • Within 200 feet of any haystack, straw or other flammable agricultural product.

Salina

Within 20 feet of any residence, dwelling, structure, or combustible material. All aerial fireworks are banned within the city limits.

Salt Lake City

Fireworks are banned in the following areas:

  • Areas east of Foothill Drive

  • Areas east of 1300 East to 500 South, including the University of Utah campus

  • All areas north of South Temple to State Street and North Temple to 200 West

  • City Creek Canyon

  • East of 200 West and Wall Street to 300 W

  • East of 300 West between Wall Street and Beck Street to the north city limits

  • All city parks and wildland urban interface areas

  • All areas west of Interstate 215

Sandy

Fireworks are prohibited at all city parks, and all areas east of 2000 East, 2125 East, Altavilla Drive, 2700 East and Quail Hollow Drive.

No fireworks east of I-15 or in Summit Ridge, or south of Red Barn.

Saratoga Springs

Fireworks are prohibited within 200 feet of any undeveloped land, urban interface area or agricultural areas and within 150 feed of an undeveloped lot or property in a residential neighborhood or area.

South Jordan

Fireworks are prohibited within the natural vegetation border of the Bingham Creek and Jordan Parkway trail systems except in picnic areas and within 25 feet of undeveloped land containing dry vegetation.

South Weber

Aerial fireworks are prohibited south of South Weber Drive between the north city limits and 925 East, and south of Lester Drive, 7500 South, 7800 South, Deer Run Drive and 8300 South.

Spanish Fork

Fireworks are prohibited in all industrial zones, south of the Spanish Fork River between the Spanish Oaks Golf Course and the east city limits, and within 200 feet of any open field or unimproved lot with dry vegetation.

Springville

Fireworks are prohibited along Main Street between 1400 North and Millpond Drive and east of Canyon Road. The public is encouraged to use any public park outside the restricted zone for lighting fireworks.

St. George

Fireworks are prohibited within 250 feet of the following areas:

  • Dry washes and drainages

  • River and stream corridors

  • Hillsides, plateaus and mesa tops

  • Undeveloped open space or natural terrain

Summit County

All class C fireworks are banned, including firecrackers, bottle rockets, roman candles, aerial fireworks and whistlers.

Taylorsville

Fireworks are prohibited near any public park or school, at any empty lot or along interstate 215.

Salt Lake County

Firework restrictions for Alta, Cottonwood Heights, Draper, Eagle Mountain, Herriman, Holladay, Midvale, Riverton, Taylorsville and the unincorporated areas of Salt Lake County are mandated by the Unified Fire Authority.

Vernal

All aerial fireworks are prohibited in Vernal City Park.

Washington City

Fireworks are prohibited in all areas within 30 feet of any combustible structure, fence, vegetation or vehicle.

Fireworks are also prohibited east of Washington Fields Road between the south city limits and Telegraph Street, and all areas north of Interstate 15.

Washington Terrace

Fireworks are prohibited south of Ridgeline Drive and west of 500 West, including Riverton residents.

Fireworks are restricted in the following areas:

  • All areas east of U.S. 89 from the Weber and Davis County line to Harrison Boulevard

  • All areas east of Harrison Boulevard between 5400 South and Mountain Road

  • The area north of 3300 North in North Ogden

  • Areas north of the Brigham Canal

West Valley City

Fireworks are prohibited within 100 feet of temporary stands or gas storage tanks and within 20 feet of any building.

Fireworks are also prohibited in the following areas:

  • Any area west of State Route 111

  • Any city parks or areas owned by West Valley City

  • Within 100 feet of the Jordan River Parkway or any other irrigation canals.

West Jordan

Fireworks are prohibited in all city parks, all areas west of Bacchus Highway, within 200 feet of the Jordan River Parkway trail, within 200 feet of Clay Hollow Wash and Bingham Creek.
