SALT LAKE CITY — Utah will be well represented in the X-Games, which open Thursday night on ESPN.

Salt Lake City's Colton Satterfield and Delta native Nick Thompson are among the extreme sports athletes vying for gold in this year's competition in Austin, Texas.

Satterfield will try to defend his gold medal in the BMX Big Air through the final scheduled for 7:30 p.m. MT on ESPN.

Thompson, meanwhile, will be among the debutantes of Endurocross, a dream of his that was 16 years in the makings. The first-ever Endurocross final at the X-Games is scheduled for Friday at 5 p.m. MT, with riders of both genders vying for the gold medal.

KSL spent some time with Thompson to talk about his unique sport, representing Delta and rural Central Utah, and what he's doing to prepare to compete at the highest level.
