UTAH STATE PRISON — Megan Huntsman, currently serving 15 years to life in the Utah State Prison for murdering six of her newborn babies, won't have her first parole hearing for nearly 50 years.

The Utah Board of Pardons and Parole has set Huntsman's original parole hearing for April of 2064. Huntsman will be 89 when she gets her first chance to ask to be released from prison. But there is no guarantee it will happen even then.

Huntsman's crime shocked people around the world. She strangled six of her newborn children to death from 1996 to 2006. A seventh newborn was determined to be stillborn. All the bodies were then stored in Huntsman's Pleasant Grove garage until they were discovered years later by her estranged husband.

Although her husband was apparently unaware that his wife had been pregnant seven times, it was later determined he was the father of all seven children.

In February, Huntsman pleaded guilty to six counts of murder. She was sentenced in April to six terms of five years to life in prison, three of those terms to be run consecutively and three to be served concurrently.

Prosecutors contended that Huntsman couldn't financially support both a drug habit and children, so she chose drugs.
