DANCINGTON — Dick Van Dyke sure could dance in his “Mary Poppins” days, and apparently nothing has changed.

Eighty-nine-year-old Van Dyke appears in a new video with the band The Dustbowl Revival, proving he still has the moves.

The band, which self-describes its style as “old school bluegrass, gospel, jug band, swamp blues and the hot swing of the 1930's to form a spicy roots cocktail," released a video Wednesday to promote its new album, “The Dustbowl Revival with a Lampshade On.”

The video features Van Dyke trying to get his real-life wife of two years, Arlene Silver, to smile and dance with him while she’s cooking dinner. The video is goofy and perhaps a bit cheesy, but hey, that’s pretty much the persona Van Dyke built his career on with “The Dick Van Dyke Show,” “Chitty Chitty Bang Bang” and “Mary Poppins,” among other things. (And it’s certainly why I love him.)

The song is a true toe-tapper with some sweet and silly lyrics matching Van Dyke’s persona.

Not to be a spoilsport, but Van Dyke does get his wife to dance in the end, and it’s a pure dose of happiness and delight that is hard not to enjoy.

You can preorder The Dustbowl Revival’s new album on its website.
