LAYTON — Residents in a Layton neighborhood are without power after a car crashed into a power pole.

Police said a car was westbound on Gentile Street near 2400 West when the 55-year-old driver apparently fell asleep at the wheel.

The car hit a power pole, bringing it down in someone's yard. Live power lines fell on the car.

The driver stayed in the car until crews turned off the power. The driver was not injured.

Power to the area is expected to be restored around 8:30 a.m.
