NORTH SALT LAKE — An inappropriate use of extension cords is being blamed for a fire at a North Salt Lake welding shop Monday that left behind $80,000 in damage.
At around 5:30 a.m., a person happened to notice smoke and flames near 170 S. Redwood Road and called dispatchers.
It took nearly two dozen firefighters to put the fire out, and they had to shut down Redwood Road from Center Street to Interstate-215 for a couple hours to do so.
Officials with South Davis Metro Fire said a welding company is housed in the building that burned.
No one was injured, but some nearby businesses had smoke and water damage.
