LOGAN — A suspended Utah State football player pleaded guilty to charges of sexual battery and distribution of marijuana Tuesday following a similar plea for soliciting a prostitute last fall.

Hayden Weichers, a 20-year-old former Bingham High standout who played wide receiver for the Aggies in 2014, appeared in 1st District Court on Tuesday morning where he pleaded guilty to one count of distribution of a controlled substance and one count of sexual battery.

The distribution count is a third-degree felony and the sexual battery charge is a Class A misdemeanor. Weichers could face up to five years in prison.

The charges stem from an incident at a local hotel on Oct. 22, 2014, according to a police report. Weichers, who allegedly used the name of a Utah State teammate, reportedly drugged and raped a female victim, according to the report.

Weichers was arrested on the new charges on March 20, according to court records, and booked again into the Cache County Jail on April 17 with no bail set.

In November, Weichers was charged with soliciting a prostitute, a class B misdemeanor, to which he pleaded guilty. He was sentenced to two days in jail and one year of probation, according to court records.

The court ordered a sentencing hearing for Weichers on June 9 for the two new charges.

Utah State coach Matt Wells suspended Weichers following his arrest in October, shortly after catching three passes for 27 yards in the Aggies’ 35-14 win over Hawaii. The redshirt freshman receiver had appeared in all nine games up to that point in the season, accumulating 10 catches for 84 yards. He also had four punt returns and a kickoff return for the Aggies.

Weichers is no longer listed on the Utah State football roster.
