SANDY — A man has minor injuries following a Sunday morning shooting in Sandy, and police are looking for a suspect who fled the area.

At about 4:05 a.m. Sunday, a 36-year-old male, who has not been identified, was shot in the back outside a home at 161 W. Eastgate Dr. in Sandy, according to the Sandy Police Department. The man was transported to IMC hospital, and his injuries were minor as the bullet only grazed his back.

The incident began following a dispute between two motorists on I-15 at 9000 South, police say. The victim and three friends were driving home from a bar for the evening when an unknown incident occurred, causing the suspected shooter to follow the victim to the home address above, where an argument ensued. The suspect, descrived as a Hispanic male, then shot several times at the four individuals from his vehicle, and struck the victim, according to police. The suspect fled the area in his silver SUV, traveling east on Cottage Avenue.

Detectives were called to the scene, and the investigation remains ongoing.
