SALT LAKE CITY — Every week people share stories of acts of goodness every week with us.

It's an opportunity for our readers to spread a little goodness, and it's one of our favorite times of the week, reading what people have to say about kind acts they've done or received.

On making room:

Sarah B.

"My husband and I recently went to the U. of U. gymnastics meet, and I thought we were brave enough to take all five of our crazy brood with us. We had no idea it was oversold and we wandered the stadium trying in vain to find seats.

"We ended up standing in the entrance tunnel to the stadium with two kids crying and the other three saying how tired they were and my husband and I deeply regretting our 'fun-filled' family outing.

"A kind women saw me and my family, got out of her seat and came down and got me. She told me she and her granddaughters would all scoot over and sit in laps so that my family could sit down and we could all share their seats. After we sat down, a man and woman passed my two crying kids flashing light sticks and magically they stopped crying.

"I just wanted to say thank you with all my heart. You kind strangers restored my faith that there are still good, kind people in this world. Your small acts of kindness gave me hope. I want you to know that there are seven people from my family who will be giving others small acts of kindness because of your examples. Ute fans are awesome!"

On giving without a second thought:

Diana T.

"Earlier this month, my son was headed to prom. When he got to the door of the dance, he realized he was short money. He quickly ran to the ATM in the USU student building but was having difficulty getting the transaction to work. A college student walking by noticed his frustration and asked if he could help. He listened, handed my son some money and walked away. My son was surprised and relieved. I was really touched when I heard about it the next morning. Thank you for that kindness."

On giving with intention:

Steven R.

"My wife and I are expecting our fourth child. I commute to Salt Lake City because we currently cannot afford to live closer. We are getting close to paying off students loans to change that but have a ways to go. Putting extra on debts has created some bad and stressful days for us.

Related:

"On one of these bad days we received a letter addressed to my wife with no return address or name. It had a $50 gift card and a short note: 'I thought you could use this for the baby.'

"That will cover the new car seat we need. The amount and timing were very significant for us and changed our whole day around. Thank you, anonymous sender."

On the gift of warm feet:

Sara S.

"I was with my dad and my brother at Shoe Carnival getting shoes for my brother. I was walking around and I found some socks that I wanted. I tried buying them, but I did not have enough to buy them. Out of nowhere someone had left $3 for me to get them. I would like to say thank you to whoever left the money for me to get my socks."
