WEST VALLEY CITY — A West Valley City family is out of their home after police say a drunk driver crashed into the house early Thursday morning.

According to police, an intoxicated man was driving home around 1:30 a.m. His vehicle dodged a tree and a wall before crashing into the front door of a house and waking up the people inside, residents said.

"I thought it was a dream," one resident said.

"I was sleeping and I heard a big crash. I was like, 'What the heck was that?' I came up and I was like, 'Oh my gosh.' The whole front of the house was gone," another resident said.

Police say they arrested the driver after finding him and his vehicle parked in his driveway five houses away from the crash scene.

No one was injured, but the homeowner said the house is not inhabitable because a water line broke, forcing the water to the home to be shut off.
