KANSAS CITY, Kan. — Backup goalkeeper Jeff Attinella made nine saves, including several spectacular first-half stops, but Real Salt Lake had to settle for a scoreless draw with shorthanded Sporting Kansas City on Saturday night.

Sporting (2-1-2) had to play a man down after the 83rd minute, when midfielder Uri Rosell was issued a straight red card for a hard foul on Devon Sandoval, but Salt Lake (2-0-3) couldn't convert on the opportunity.

Sporting's Eric Kronberg needed to make only one save for his second shutout, as Kansas City recorded a 20-5 advantage on total shots.

Real was without regular goalkeeper Nick Rimando, who hurt his knee in the United States' 2-2 draw with Mexico on Wednesday night. Right back Tony Beltran was also out on Saturday after injuring his ankle in the US-Mexico game.
